A comprehensive lighting scheme was developed for all public areas of Blackfriars Station – the longest covered station in the UK and the first to be supplied via solar panels. The lighting was designed to merge seamlessly with daylight, providing bright and welcoming station areas by day and night.
A key feature of the lighting approach was to incorporate a subtle blue accent to the roofline, softening the appearance of the roof and the station by night while enhancing the reflected views in the Thames by night.
